Young elite stars from Liverpool, Benfica, Sporting and over 30 other clubs from around the world to compete in the Algarve this weekend

– November 13, 2025

The city of Portimão is set to host some of the brightest young football talents in the world as the U14 Portimão International Cup kicks off this weekend, from November 14 (Friday) to November 16 (Sunday).

The tournament will bring together elite youth teams from across Europe and beyond, including Liverpool FC, Parma Calcio 1913, Everton FC, Crystal Palace FC, RC Celta Vigo, RC Deportivo La Coruña, Derby County FC, Sporting CP, SL Benfica and Vitória SC. They’ll be joined by local teams from Portimonense Sporting Clube and Mexilhoeira Grande Futebol Clube, among 35 clubs representing 20 nations in total.

Matches will be held across two venues, the Major David Neto Training Centre and the Mexilhoeira Grande Sports Complex, both set to attract national and international scouts and fans hoping to spot the next generation of stars.

Organisers say the competition not only gives young athletes an opportunity to play against high-level opponents but also encourages valuable “cultural and sporting exchange” between players from around the world.

The event is expected to deliver a strong impact to the local economy, drawing an estimated 2,000 visitors, including players, coaches, families and fans travelling to the region.

Tickets are priced at €5 per day or €12 for a three-day pass, available from the Major David Neto Training Centre. Children under 12 enter for free.

The Portimão International Cup is organised by Portimonense Sporting Clube and Live Adventure, with the support of the Portimão Municipal Council.
