The family-run restaurant has moved to Monte Carvoeiro, bringing its familiar Mediterranean flavours, warm service and relaxed atmosphere to a new setting
For many years, Taste Restaurant has been a much-loved dining destination in Carvoeiro, earning a reputation for warm hospitality, great food, and an atmosphere that keeps visitors returning year after year.

Long established within the local restaurant scene, this family-run restaurant was built on consistency, and genuine connection with both residents and holidaymakers who visit the local area.
Recently, the restaurant has entered an exciting new chapter. Due to structural issues caused by the bad weather earlier this year, Taste has relocated from its former home on Rua do Barranco to a beautiful new setting in Monte Carvoeiro, taking over a well-known location, previously occupied by Elliott’s Restaurant.
The move marks a new beginning whilst still preserving everything loyal customers have always loved about Taste: relaxed dining, quality ingredients, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
“We’ve already survived a relocation, a pandemic, inflation and now even a broken roof. Experiences like that teach you resilience very quickly. We’re especially thankful to Elliott’s for their fast and uncomplicated help in making this new space possible during a difficult situation. Support like that shows the strength of the local community around us. So no, a little rain won’t stop us. Taste is here to stay,” states owner Nicola Silvasan.
Over the years, the restaurant built a strong following thanks to its approachable Mediterranean-style cuisine, carefully prepared tapas, fresh fish dishes, quality steaks, and vibrant cocktail menu.
Unlike trend-driven venues that come and go, Taste has remained successful because it understands what people truly value when dining out: authenticity, consistency, and personalised service.
As a family-run business, guests are welcomed more as friends than as customers. That personal touch is something increasingly rare in modern hospitality and is one of the main reasons why Taste has maintained such a loyal customer base over the years.
Whether it is a couple visiting for a romantic dinner, a family gathering for Sunday lunch, or friends meeting for cocktails and tapas, the atmosphere remains relaxed, inviting, and genuinely very personal.
The new Monte Carvoeiro location perfectly complements the next stage of the restaurant’s journey. Situated in one of Carvoeiro’s most charming and well-known areas, the venue offers more space, a stylish atmosphere, and a fresh energy while still keeping the character that made Taste so popular in its previous location.
The new setting is also particularly perfect for families with children. The central square at Monte Carvoeiro creates a safe and open area where children can play freely while parents relax nearby enjoying their meal.
This family-friendly environment has quickly become one of the standout features of the new location. Many residents already knew the building as the former home of Elliot’s Restaurant, making the transition especially exciting for the local community.
One of the defining features of Taste has always been its varied menu. The kitchen focuses on fresh ingredients and flavourful dishes inspired by Mediterranean and international cuisine.
Guests can enjoy everything from beautifully prepared seafood and premium cuts of meat to sharing tapas and vegetarian options. The restaurant has also become well known for its themed evenings and popular specials, including steak nights and traditional Sunday roasts, which continue to attract both locals and visitors alike.
Another reason for Taste’s lasting success is its ability to evolve while staying true to its identity.
Moving premises is never easy for a long-established restaurant, especially one with such a loyal customer base. However, Taste has managed the transition with confidence, embracing a fresh new location without losing the warmth and familiarity that people associate with the restaurant.
In many ways, the move to Monte Carvoeiro reflects the continued growth and ambition of the family behind the business.
Carvoeiro itself has changed significantly over the years, becoming one of the Algarve’s most sought-after destinations for both tourism and year-round living. Through all of that change, Taste has remained a constant presence within the community.
It has welcomed generations of visitors, celebrated special occasions with countless families, and become a restaurant people recommend time and time again when asked where to eat in Carvoeiro.
As the restaurant begins this exciting new era, one thing remains unchanged: Taste continues to be a place where people come together to enjoy good food, relaxed surroundings, and the unmistakable feeling of true Algarve hospitality.
Whether you are a long-time local resident or discovering it for the very first time, Taste remains one of Carvoeiro’s must-visit restaurants and an important part of the town’s culinary identity.
