Portugal’s newest ultra-premium vodka launches with style and intrigue

A sleek new name has entered the world of ultra-luxury spirits. Spy X Vodka officially launched on Monday, July 21, in the Algarve, with an extremely stylish, invite-only event that brought together the region’s top hospitality insiders.
Developed under the Spy Manor brand, Spy X is Portugal’s newest entry into the global luxury market – but its roots stretch further. Although the concept was born locally, the vodka is distilled and bottled in Poland, long considered one of the spiritual homes of vodka. What sets Spy X apart from all others is its dedication to quality, rarity, and a sense of intrigue that mirrors the brand’s cinematic inspirations.

Rather than sticking to convention, Spy X uses a secret blend of spelt and wheat – an ancient grain prized for its complexity and finesse. Spelt is not only rarer than typical vodka grains, but also significantly more expensive and difficult to grow. In a nod to traditional craftsmanship, the base is aged for over 30 days before distillation. The result is an ultra-smooth, neutral spirit that aims to redefine the vodka experience.

The bottle was designed with both style and purpose in mind. It’s intentionally not too tall, so it sits easily on a table without getting in the way of conversation – something you want to keep close, not move aside.
The transparent shrink cap keeps the look clean and doesn’t leave any messy glue or paper behind. A synthetic cork adds a touch of luxury, reinforcing the vodka’s premium feel.

It’s the kind of bottle people want to keep, even when it’s empty. Packaged in a sleek box, it also makes a great gift for friends or business partners.
The bold X symbol speaks to crossing cultures, sharing experiences, and a hint of mystery – if you look through the bullet-like cutouts, you might even spot a hidden detail or two inside.
The launch event reflected the mysterious and elegant spirit of the brand. Guests, including Portugal’s leading figures in hospitality and mixology, were immersed in a carefully designed experience where nothing was left to chance.

Signature Spy X cocktails were served alongside gourmet canapés, each pairing thoughtfully designed to highlight the vodka’s subtle flavour profile. The atmosphere set the tone for a brand that seems poised to make waves well beyond Portugal.
Michelle Opstelten, General Manager at Edd’s Beach, was among the first to embrace the brand. “At Edd’s Beach, we’re always looking for ways to create something memorable for our guests. Spy X Vodka immediately caught our attention – not just for its exceptional smoothness, but also for the brand story behind it. We’re excited to be among one of the first ones to feature Spy X at our venue and are already working with the team to host a themed Spy Night this August, where the mystery and sophistication of Spy X will take center stage.”

Also in attendance was Cyril de Weerdt, a partner from Katedral Nightclub and Sin Sushi in Portimão, who shared his enthusiasm for the project: “We’re proud to see a project like Spy X – international in ambition but born in Portugal – taking its first steps here. We’re excited to offer Spy X Vodka in both our VIP lounge and sushi bar, where it will perfectly complement the premium experience we deliver to our guests.”
“Spy X is more than a vodka – it’s a crafted experience,” said the founders of Spy Manor. “Developed in Portugal, produced in Poland, and destined for the world, Spy X embodies refinement at every stage, from grain to glass.”

Spy X will roll out across Portugal this summer, with a global launch planned shortly after.
As the luxury spirits market continues to grow, especially in lifestyle-focused destinations like the Algarve, Spy X has entered the scene with flair, precision, and just enough mystery to keep everyone intrigued.
Spy X Vodka is now available at select venues across Portugal.
