Passenger numbers jump 70%

Portimão recorded strong growth in cruise traffic in 2025, standing out among Portugal’s southern ports.

The port of Portimão reported a 40% year-on-year increase in cruise calls and a 70% rise in passenger numbers, reinforcing its growing role in the Mediterranean cruise market, according to the Sines and Algarve Port Administration (APS).

Portimão closed 2025 with 56 cruise ship calls and 23,996 passengers. APS says these figures confirm the region’s appeal among mid-sized and luxury cruise operators and strengthen the Algarve’s position as a high-end cruise tourism destination.
