A limited affair

A new Algarve wine project is focusing on limited production and quality over quantity.

Launched this summer, PATUÁ Rosé Tête de Cuvée 2025 marks the brand’s debut with a limited-edition wine produced from a one-hectare vineyard and crafted using a winemaking process designed to preserve freshness, elegance and the character of the terroir.

Produced in São Bartolomeu de Messines from Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, the wine is made from carefully selected vineyard parcels using the Tête de Cuvée method.

Only the first juice from a gentle pressing is used, followed by fermentation in French oak barrels and six months’ ageing on fine lees. The result is a rosé with notes of pomegranate and grapefruit, balanced by a fresh, saline finish.

According to founder Joana Neto Guerreiro, the aim is to keep PATUÁ “exclusive and limited, focused on quality rather than quantity”, creating “special wines, with a focus on an exceptional and unique rosé”.

Alongside the rosé, the brand has also released two limited-edition red wines, available through its website and on the wine lists at Rei das Praias and Vila Joya.

Production will remain intentionally limited, with the wines expected to be stocked by only one or two additional Algarve venues.
