Fun events ahead

Following the success of the 12th Discoveries Festival and the Portugal Day celebrations, Lagos still has a vibrant calendar of cultural events set to enliven the season.

One of the highlights is the Sweet Art Competition Fair, now in its 36th edition. From July 23 to 27, the Lagos Sports Complex will once again host this popular gathering, blending traditional confectionery, artisanal crafts, regional cuisine, showcooking, and live music.

This year’s musical line-up includes Maninho (23), Os Quatro e Meia (24), Bárbara Tinoco (25), Ivandro (26) e Sara Correia (27).

Another cherished tradition returns on August 29 with the Festa do Banho 29, the traditional celebration honouring the rituals marking the end of the summer season.

The event will unfold simultaneously around Lagos’ Cais da Solaria and Jardim da Constituição, with a show by singer Rebeca, and in Praia da Luz, with performances across three beachside stages.

August brings the Lagos Book Fair and the FETAAL fair, dedicated to showcasing the Algarve’s traditions and crafts.

In September, Noites no Cais will bring major musical shows to the area around Cais das Descobertas.
