Full throttle: From endurance battles to MotoGP thrills, Portimão gears up for an unforgettable autumn

Motorsport is set to make a roaring comeback at the Algarve International Racetrack (AIA) in Portimão, with five major competitions lined up between October and December.

The post-summer season resumes with the Fun Cup between October 10 and 12, before the European Le Mans Series arrives from October 13 to 19.

Just days later, the racetrack will once again host the Algarve Classic Festival, from October 23 to 26, a favourite for fans of old-school styles.

November then brings the MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix – one of the year’s highlights – from November 7 to 9, when the grandstands are expected to be filled with motorheads and supporters of home hero Miguel Oliveira, winner in of the inaugural race in 2020.

The calendar closes with the 24H C1 endurance race on December 6 and 7, ensuring a thrilling end to another motorsport year in the Algarve.

Adding to the excitement, as we were going to print, the Portuguese Prime Minister announced that the country is ready to “formalise” the return of Formula 1 to the Algarve in 2027.

The statement was met with great enthusiasm in the region, fuelling hopes for an even brighter future for the racing circuit in the Algarve.

Tickets for all events are already available on the AIA official website.
