Family fun and seasonal magic, from Santa’s letters and a Christmas village to theatre, games and more
Lagos Zoo is once again welcoming families for its much-loved Christmas celebration, Natalândia. This year’s programme will run from December 5 to December 24, offering a mix of activities for children and adults.
Children can write and hand-deliver their letters to Santa, explore a charming Christmas Village and enjoy theatre performances, games and creative displays such as nativity scenes and recycled-material decorations.
As in previous editions, Natalândia also offers the chance to get closer to the zoo’s residents, with special moments where visitors can help feed pelicans, otters and primates. Street entertainment, festive games and live performances will fill the days leading up to Christmas, adding colour to a space already home to more than 180 species. Algarve residents will again benefit from a 50% discount on entry, a gesture the zoo has kept throughout the years to strengthen its ties with the local community.

The event reflects the zoo’s long-standing mission of education, conservation and family-friendly leisure. Founded in 2000 after years of careful design inspired by owner Paulo Figueiras’ deep connection to animals, Lagos Zoo has grown into a serene, nature-focused space.
Its blend of animal welfare, environmental awareness and festive magic has made Natalândia one of the region’s most endearing Christmas traditions.
