A fusion of history, culture, and flavour characterised the 35th edition of Lagos’ traditional Arte Doce Fair this year
The 35th Arte Doce Fair in Lagos, held from July 24 to 28, was a great success, attracting hundreds of visitors to an incredible event that brought together tradition and innovation.
This year saw an increase in participating businesses at the fair, attracting a large number of visitors and forming long queues at the sweet stands.
The venue was nearly full throughout the five-day event, where confectioners showcased both heritage and modern artistry, accompanied by great musical performances from Expensive Soul, Fernando Daniel, Hybrid Theory—The Linkin Park Tribute, Plutonio, and Luís Trigacheiro.
The event featured crafts, local delicacies, children’s entertainment, cooking exhibitions, and the “Arte Doce” confectioners’ competition.
The theme of this year was marked by the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, where “Freedom” was celebrated, both as part of the entertainment and as the mandatory theme of the Arte Doce Competitions.
The main attraction of the event was the expertise and creations of the confectioners, which ended with a prize-giving ceremony on July 28, the final day of the Arte Doce fair.
