The five-day event runs from July 22 to 26, bringing leading Portuguese artists to the stage

The Arte Doce fair returns to the Lagos Sports Complex from July 22 to 26, celebrating traditional Algarve sweets alongside live music, cooking demonstrations and family activities.

Almonds, figs and carob will take centre stage during the Arte Doce competition, where local confectioners will present traditional and original creations. The winners will be announced on the final day.

Visitors can also watch cooking demonstrations featuring Dom Rodrigo dessert and dishes from the Algarve, Douro and Moldova. A children’s workshop on July 25 will teach participants how to make Doce Fino, the Algarve’s colourful marzipan sweets.

Each evening will feature a headline concert, with Marisa Liz performing on July 22, Matias Damásio on July 23, Dino D’Santiago on July 24, Carlão on July 25 and Ana Moura closing the event on July 26.

Local musicians, fado singers, jazz groups, DJs and tribute acts will also perform across the festival’s smaller stages. A silent disco will take place on July 24 and 25.

The programme also includes craft and regional product stalls, food stands and children’s activities.

Admission is free, with the fair opening daily at 6pm.
