Backing the Bombeiros

Supporting the community is a key focus of Lagos Intermarché’s mission. In a show of community spirit, the store has recently stepped forward to support the town’s volunteer firefighters by donating essential rescue equipment designed for high-risk cliffside operations.

The donation, which took place in May, included advanced safety gear and individual protective equipment crucial for emergency responses in some of the region’s most challenging terrains.

Whilst Lagos’ stunning natural features attract many tourists year-round, they also present considerable dangers that require well-equipped rescue teams prepared to act swiftly and effectively.

The new gear is expected to significantly enhance the operational capacity of the Bombeiros de Lagos, enabling them to respond more safely and efficiently to rescue situations, often under treacherous conditions where precision is critical.

This donation emphasises once again the supermarket’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the local community and acknowledges the indispensable role that the Bombeiros play in ensuring public safety.

“This donation reflects the appreciation and recognition of the vital role played by the Bombeiros within the community, as well as their role as active agents of positive change,” a spokesperson said.
