Lagos’s Art Academy to host fashion show this September 21 featuring national and international artists

The event promises stylish outfits and vibrant collections, accompanied by live music

Art Academy Marina de Lagos will be presenting a fashion show on September 21 as part of its annual event, under the artistic direction of Kasia Wrona.

The event promises to bring Lagos Marina to life with stylish outfits, vibrant collections, and a riot of colours. Live music by Bogdan Kadej, wine, and a stunning sculpture by Mário Miranda will be featured at the event, starting at 4pm.

As Art Academy’s Artistic Director Kasia Wrona suggests: “I hope this idea will inspire you to show up in your best outfit – whether elegant or playful.”

Kasia Wrona, co-founder of Art Academy Marina de Lagos, will present her own creations as well.

A graduate with distinction from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 1991, Kasia paints, draws, designs, and creates installations, objects, and videos, as well as sews and decorates clothes.

She lives and works in the Algarve, where her works are regularly exhibited and featured in private and public collections.

Cristina Lobo will present her Lobo Brown collection, inspired by her mother, Celeste Alves Lôbo, and J. Brown.

Each piece is designed to be as unique as the person wearing it, blending creativity with personal expression.

The adornment pieces and accessories carry a message that resonates with those who are open to it.

Portuguese designer Isabel João will showcase her concept of recycled fashion, where “out of what it was, a new meaning pops up.”

Karolina Kaczmarek, who has been working with felt fabric design for over a decade, will also exhibit her eco-printing work on cotton and viscose fabrics, incorporating plants from the local area into her intricate designs.

Tomasz Stangrecki will present a one-of-a-kind collection of original jewelry, specializing in silver, amber, and other precious materials to create works of art, including micro-sculptures and three-dimensional bas-reliefs.

His latest collection showcases the beauty of Baltic amber, harmonizing with raw silver forms.

Tomasz has exhibited his works in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad and is a member of various artistic and jewelry associations.

The upcycled fashion brand Irie Textiles, originally launched in Berlin’s underground party scene, has now found a home in the sun-soaked Algarve, pushing the boundaries of sustainable style.

Founded by Irena Kustova, a visionary textile artist from Estonia, the brand breathes new life into fabric and fashion through a fusion of art and sustainability, using recycled materials and creating 3D effects.

Irie Textiles also specializes in recycling clothes with collage-style patches, turning old garments into unique, story-driven pieces.

Corinne Ferreira is a French-born professional dressmaker with experience in historical and theatrical costumes.

Corinne has exhibited at venues such as the Municipal Museum of Lagos, the Cultural Center of Lagos, and the Convent of São José de Lagoa.

In 2016, she ventured into textile art, creating hand-stitched fabric paintings inspired by famous works like Picasso’s *Guernica*, Klimt’s *The Kiss*, and Frida Kahlo’s iconic images.

PUDU is a brand born out of Joanna Weyna’s passion for the fashion world, who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Poland.

PUDU is known for its minimalist designs, made from high-quality fabrics such as linen, wool, viscose, and cotton.

Her collections have been showcased at prestigious events like the Amberlook Trend&Style show in Gdańsk, Expo 2020 in Dubai, and Milan Fashion Week.

Ola Sobolewska-Wrzosek, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, will bring her zero-waste fashion creations to the show.

Ola gives new life to used clothing, with jackets taking centre stage as indispensable elements of the wardrobe.

She draws inspiration from nature, using floral shapes and colours, and adorns her creations with appliqués, beads, and crystals.

Lastly, Rosa Dumontier, born in Champagne, France, and living in the Algarve since 2021, will present three reimagined vintage pieces from her personal collection.

Rosa’s passion for fashion shines through her ability to give new life to these cherished garments.
