The Praia da Luz centre offers tailored treatments ranging from massage and reflexology to naturopathy and aesthetics

Opened last summer, Luz Wellness Center was founded by therapist Celina Almeida, who wanted to create a space where every client receives personalised care that takes into account their physical, emotional and aesthetic needs.

With more than 15 years of experience, Celina – born in France, raised in Fátima and living in the Algarve since 2002 – decided it was the right time to establish her own practice. Since opening in Praia da Luz, both the team and the range of treatments available have continued to grow. Supporting people’s well-being remains the driving force behind the project.

“It’s part of my nature to pay attention to each person’s individual needs, so working in wellness has always felt like the right path,” she says.

After spending several years working in spas and collaborating with a variety of wellness centres, she decided to develop a space that reflected her own approach: “Welcoming people, listening to them and being fully present through well-being services,” she says, describing the philosophy behind the centre.

The centre brings together practitioners specialising in aesthetics, naturopathy, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage, reflexology, Reiki, buccal therapy, as well as facial and body massage.

Regardless of the treatment chosen, the emphasis is on a holistic approach, with each session adapted to the client’s individual needs to encourage balance between body and mind. Before each appointment, therapists take time to understand how clients are feeling, both physically and emotionally. The experience begins in the reception area, where visitors are invited to unwind with a coffee, tea or water before their treatment.

Lifestyle, age and physical and emotional well-being are also considered when recommending the most suitable treatment.

“We always aim to recommend the treatment that best suits each person’s needs, which isn’t always the one they initially choose,” explains Celina Almeida.

She believes that massage can play an important role as part of a regular self-care routine, not only because it promotes relaxation, but also because it may help reduce physical discomfort, support skin care and encourage people to set aside time for their own well-being.

“I believe attitudes are changing and that more people are recognising the benefits these practices can bring to both body and mind,” she says.

Among the treatments available is a full-body relaxation massage, offered in 30, 60 or 90-minute sessions. Designed to relieve stress and ease muscular tension, it also offers an opportunity to step away from the demands of everyday life.

Lymphatic drainage, Celina Almeida’s area of expertise, is also among the centre’s most requested treatments. The technique stimulates the lymphatic system, helping to reduce fluid retention, eliminate toxins and support recovery from bruising.

The centre also offers treatments tailored to different ages, lifestyles and individual needs, including therapies for including therapies for athletes and those with active lifestyles looking to relieve muscular tension or recover after physical exertion.

To support this broad range of therapies, Luz Wellness Center brings together a multidisciplinary team. Celina Almeida specialises in lymphatic drainage, aromatherapy, intuitive massage and facial treatments.

Lia Nery focuses on sports massage and body treatments; Patrícia Rosado on reflexology and Bok-Bu; Patrícia Bessa on buccal therapy; Ana Gonçalves on naturopathy; Rui Pequeno on fascial release and therapeutic massage; Daniela Alves on aesthetics; Margarida Almeida on laser treatments; and Sílvia Silva on Reiki. The team also includes massage therapists Barbara Wadolowska, Marisa Reis and Sílvia Aguilar.

Whilst the centre has expanded since opening, Celina Almeida says her priority remains unchanged: creating a welcoming environment where every client receives attentive, personalised care tailored to their individual needs.
