Six free evening walks will take place between July 8 and August 12
Residents and visitors will once again be able to explore Lagoa after dark as the council brings back its popular Caminhadas ao Luar programme for the summer months.
The initiative offers a series of free evening walks and runs, giving participants the chance to enjoy the Algarve’s scenery at sunset and under the night sky whilst staying active.
A total of six events are scheduled across Lagoa, with both 5km and 10km routes available, taking place on Wednesdays at 8.30pm, throughout July and August.
This year’s programme begins in Lagoa on July 8 at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium, followed by Carvoeiro on July 15 at Largo da Praia de Carvoeiro. On July 22 participants will head to Parchal’s Bela Vista Municipal Stadium and on July 29 to the Exhibition and Fair Park in Estômbar.
The final two events will take place in Ferragudo’s Infante Santo riverside area on August 5 and in Porches, at Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Rocha Square, on August 12.
Alongside encouraging physical activity and well-being, the programme aims to bring people together through outdoor experiences, encouraging social interaction within the community.
Music will be provided by DJ Likotta at each event, creating a relaxed atmosphere at the finish line.
Participation is free and registration can be completed online, through parish councils, municipal services or at the venue on the day of each event. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that is easily visible at night and to bring a torch or headlamp, along with a water bottle. At the end, all participants will receive a commemorative Caminhadas ao Luar 2026 T-shirt.
