The yearly fair is dedicated to creating sustainable Mediterranean gardens with minimal water use
– September 4, 2025

Organised by the Mediterranean Gardening Association Portugal in partnership with Lagoa Council, this year’s Autumn Mediterranean Garden Fair will be held on October 18 and 19 at the FATACIL Showground in Lagoa.
The annual fair is a unique event that aims to celebrate the start of the gardening year and to making beautiful and sustainable Mediterranean gardens with minimum water use.

There will be various displays, and available for sale a very distinct selection of plants suitable for Algarve gardens, including specialist sales of salvia, succulents and drought-resistant plants. Native plants and seeds from specialised suppliers will be on sale, as well as ornamental and aromatic plants.
The fair will have sales and advice on fruit and garden trees, and a wonderful range of succulents for both the garden and containers.

“This is an opportunity to buy the most suitable plants for your garden and benefit from the advice and guidance of experienced nursery owners, growers, speakers and MGAP members,” according to MGAP representatives. There is also a rich programme of free talks, workshops and demonstrations.
The keynote presentation on Saturday, October 18, is on “How to get rid of your lawn”.

As usual, there will be free advice on how to create and maintain your garden sustainably into the future with the theme of “Starting the Mediterranean Gardening Year”, and it will be possible to pre-order plants from growers for collection during the event.
At the MGAP Bulb Sales stand, there will be a selection of bulbs suitable for Algarve gardens.
There will also be a bookshop with exciting new additions, as well as craft stands with high-quality botanical art.
Refreshments (including vegetarian options and Indian curries) and bar facilities will be available. There will also be a range of organic products for sale.
The organisation asks that, to reduce waste, visitors bring their own bags and boxes.
The fair runs each day from 10am to 5pm. Entry costs €1.
