Lagoa, Lagos, Portimão, and Silves set the stage for motorsports fans looking for exciting action

Rally Casinos do Algarve is back for its 53rd edition, promising a thrilling event on March 27-29 in the towns of Lagoa, Lagos, Portimão, and Silves.

Organised by the Algarve Auto Club (Clube Automóvel do Algarve) and the Portuguese Auto and Karting Federation, this renowned rally promises to challenge drivers and teams with a demanding and adrenaline-filled competition.

Drivers participating in the competition will be able to qualify for multiple championships and competitions, including the Portuguese Rally Championship (CPR), CPR2RM, Masters, Junior, Promo, Portuguese Classic Cup, Southern Rally Championship, Peugeot Rally Cup Portugal, as well as the PAST Rally3 Trophy Iberia for Spanish competitors.

Schedule

The rally’s operational centre will be located at Hotel Algarve Casino in Praia da Rocha, Portimão, whilst Lagoa’s FATACIL will once again host the Closed Park and Team Assistance Area. This year will also feature a Fun Park, offering karting experiences, simulators, and activities for local youngsters and their families.

The competition’s setup and initial activities will begin on Thursday, March 27, with administrative and technical checks.

On Friday, March 28, between 8am and 1pm, Silves will host the Shakedown in the northern part of the city, providing drivers with a final opportunity to fine-tune their cars before the rally officially begins.

The official start of the competition takes place at 3.15pm on Friday, March 28, at Lagoa’s FATACIL venue. From there, drivers will head west to Lagos for the Timed Specials, between Bensafrim and Barão de São João.

A regrouping and autograph session is scheduled near Lagos Town Hall, allowing the public to interact with the drivers before the Lagos City Stage, a “Super Special Night” that will transform the surrounding streets into a real urban circuit on the evening of March 28, kicking off at 8pm, showcasing the drivers’ skill and promising a spectacular show for all motorsports lovers.

On Saturday, March 29, competitors will head to Silves for three classification races, each run twice, across Silves, Messines, and São Marcos. Then a visit to the service park at FATACIL, Lagoa, will follow, before a regrouping in Silves.

Spectators will have 10 areas to follow the rally, as well as the Lagos City Stage on Friday night (March 28) and the Portimão City Stage on Saturday afternoon (March 29).

The awards ceremony will take place at Hotel Algarve Casino on Saturday, March 29, at 7pm.
