‘A Journey Through the History of Portimão’s Stories’  returns, showcasing the city’s most iconic sites

Portimão is hosting a riverside exhibition, inviting visitors on a journey through the city’s rich history and heritage. Friends of the Portimão Museum present ‘Passear pela História das Histórias de Portimão’ (A Journey Through the History of Portimão’s Stories) at Praça Manuel Teixeira Gomes, by the riverfront.

This is the ninth edition of the street exhibition project ‘A Walk Through History’, which began in 2017. The project extends an invitation to discover Portimão and its history, unique landmarks, people, heritage, and the key events and influences that have shaped the municipality and its society.

Through a series of panels, the exhibition showcases images and information that reveal the beginnings of Portimão’s vibrant associative, maritime, industrial, rural, commercial, and tourist life. Visitors can trace the evolution of the urban and social landscape from the old “Vila Nova de Portimão” to the present day.

The exhibition is running until September 21.
