The fair will bring together locals and visitors for three days of traditional food, music and Easter celebrations
São Marcos da Serra will celebrate Easter with its yearly Festa do Folar (Easter folar bread), taking place from April 3 to 5.
Now in its 28th edition, the fair is free to attend and will take place in the area surrounding the local church, bringing together locals and visitors for three days of traditional food, music and Easter celebrations.
From classic versions of the Easter bread to sweeter, cake-like alternatives, there will be plenty of folares to choose from. Typical Algarve products such as sausages, honey and other regional treats will also be featured.
This year’s entertainment includes concerts by fado singer Tatiana Pinto on April 3, the group Folia Vadia on April 4, and well-known singer Ágata on April 5.
Visitors can also enjoy traditional folk groups, percussion performances, dance, capoeira shows and live music throughout the event.
Families are well catered for, with activities including the workshop My First Folar on April 4 and 5 at 3pm, aimed at children aged four to 12. Participation is free but requires advance registration at the Geoparque Algarvensis stand.
The Casa Museu da Serra will also be open daily from 11am to 9pm for those wanting to explore local heritage.
