The triathlon takes place February 15-16

The Arade Challenge 2025 will be held in Lagoa this February 15 (Saturday) and 16 (Sunday).

With a total prize pool of €1,000, the triathlon event will feature running, swimming, and canoeing challenges, for both male and female competitors in multiple age groups.

The race distances will vary depending on the age group.  The Under 14 and Masters +55 categories will compete in a shorter course consisting of a 200m swim, a 1,500m run, and 2,500m canoe. The Under 14, Absolutes (all ages welcome), and Masters 40-54 categories will compete on a longer course, which includes a 300m swim, a 3,000m run, and 5,000m canoe.

In the Absolutes category, winners of each individual stage of the triathlon (swimming, running, and canoeing) will receive €50, and overall male and female winners will be awarded €200 for the first place, €100 for the second, and €50 for the third.

Meanwhile, participants in the Under 14 and Under 16 categories will receive complimentary tickets to the Slide & Splash water park in Lagoa.

Athletes must complete all three disciplines  to be eligible for any awards.

The swimming events will take place on February 15 (Saturday) at 2.30pm at Lagoa’s Municipal pool. The following day, February 16 (Sunday), the running events will start 9.30 am at the Castores do Arade facilities at Centro Náutico da Mexilhoeira da Carregação, immediately followed by the canoeing events at 11am.
