Food festival takes over Alameda da República this September, bringing together chefs from across Portugal, local producers, street food and live entertainment

Arrebita Portimão returns on September 5 and 6, bringing 24 chefs from across Portugal and 10 Algarve producers to the city for two evenings dedicated to Portuguese food.

Taking place at Alameda da República from 6pm to 11.30pm, the free festival combines street food, local produce, music and entertainment in an informal open-air setting.

Created by Amuse Bouche with the support of Portimão Municipal Council, Arrebita was designed to bring chefs, producers, restaurants and the public together outside the traditional restaurant setting, celebrating Portimão, the flavours of the region and portuguese gastronomy.

Music and entertainment will run throughout both evenings, including DJ sets, artistic performances and entertainment, creating the relaxed atmosphere that has become part of the festival’s identity.

Arrebita Portugal describes itself as the country’s first travelling gastronomic festival, taking its street-food concept to different regions while showcasing contemporary Portuguese cuisine.

The festival received the Portuguese Academy of Gastronomy’s Grand Gastronomy Prize in 2021 and has also been presented by the World Tourism Organisation as a case study in the promotion of sustainable gastronomic tourism.

In 2024, its Arrebita Idanha Bio edition also became the first Portuguese festival to receive organic certification.

Arrebita Portimão 2026 takes place on September 5 and 6 at Alameda da República, from 6pm to 11.30pm. Admission is free.
