Traditional food, live music and family activities

Vila Vita Biergarten will welcome spring with its Maibaumfest celebration on May 1, bringing a well-known Bavarian tradition to the Algarve.

The event, popular across parts of Germany and Austria, marks the start of the new season. For the day, the venue will be set up as a Bavarian-style village, with a market, huts, food stalls and a decorated Maibaum, also known as a Maypole.

The ritual celebrates community and the return to outdoor living as families and friends gather around the pole, which is decorated with colourful ribbons and traditional symbols.

Visitors can enjoy a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, with Bavarian and Austrian snacks, traditional sweets, artisanal ice cream from Gelato Mio, and products from Vila Vita Parc’s V-Life Shops. Guests will also be able to decorate the Maibaum, adding ribbons and flowers and leaving messages for the new season.

Live music will start at 3pm, with performances inspired by traditional folk sounds. German beer will be available, along with Maibowle, a seasonal drink made with white wine and fresh herbs.

There will also be a children’s area with inflatables, games and activities.

Tickets cost €10 for adults and €5 for children up to 12, including entry and one drink. Free parking is available on-site.
