Inaugurated three years ago, Art Inspirada gallery has brought a dynamic presence to Lagos, showcasing the work of 19 artists from different nationalities.

Founded by Adriana and Maramgoní, the gallery is built on a foundation of artistic excellence, technical mastery, and a deep appreciation for the unique energy that artists bring to their work.

The collection spans a wide range of styles, from abstract to figurative, yet every piece displayed shares a common thread – each work tells a story, inviting visitors to engage in a deeper dialogue with art.

Among the artists represented, Brazilian talents Heloiza Zanaga, Jana Garcia, Marcio Schiaz, Sérgio Longo, and Fernanda Eva stand alongside the Argentinean Marcelo Urizar.

From Europe, the gallery features Russian artist Alisa Aidarova, the Italian Alberto Patrucco, and Portuguese artists Joana Clérigo and Filipe Guimarães. Meanwhile, Linda Marcusson Holm, born in South Africa, raised in Mozambique, and now residing in Stockholm, brings an international perspective that reflects the gallery’s ethos of diversity and artistic fusion.

For Adriana and Maramgoní, the philosophy behind Art Inspirada extends beyond technique and aesthetics.

“There is an intangible but essential factor: the artist’s energy. The harmony between them and the gallery is fundamental because we believe that art carries not only lines and colours, but also the soul of those who make it,” Adriana explains.

“We want everyone who visits us to feel that they have found a refuge, a cosy space where art is experienced and shared, not a distant object, but a living presence that touches and transforms,” she adds.

Here, authenticity is not seen as a detail but as a fundamental pillar. Beyond curating an exceptional collection, the gallery seeks to foster meaningful connections between the public and the artwork.

“Each work reflects a specific moment in the artist’s life. When they create something, they are channelling energy, thoughts, and inspiration into something unrepeatable, so when someone buys that piece, they are not just buying a decorative object, but a fragment of the artist’s time, a piece of their journey, their expression and their truth,” says Adriana.

The name Art Inspirada (Inspired Art) itself is a reflection of this vision. It was born from a moment of clarity when Adriana observed her five-year-old son, Matteo, drawing with “pure, unfiltered creativity”.

The sincerity of his artistic expression inspired her to create a space that embodied that same natural and instinctive connection to art.

Both she and Maramgoní, originally from São Paulo, Brazil, have lived a life steeped in art and their journey together began in childhood.

Maramgoní’s artistic career was, in part, shaped by this connection – in order to see Adriana, his mother told him he would have to do a painting a day. This practice, initially a means of affection, became his lifelong profession.

Time separated them, but years later, they reconnected, and their partnership was rekindled. Their shared passion for art led them to merge their personal and professional lives.

Adriana, who holds a degree in Social Communication/Journalism from the Alcântara Machado Integrated Colleges (FIAM) in São Paulo and a postgraduate qualification in the History of Cinema, had a successful career at Mercedes-Benz before fully dedicating herself to the art world.

She became Maramgoní’s representative, immersing herself in the industry, learning its complexities, and forging relationships with artists and collectors. “What began as a childhood love turned into a lifelong partnership, both on and off the canvas,” she reflects.

The couple initially opened an art gallery in Brazil, establishing a network of collaborations that would later extend to Portugal. Her love of art came to represent a “purpose and path” inspired by the sensations and connections that art gives her, and when they relocated to the Algarve at the end of 2019, Adriana envisioned opening a new gallery.

Despite a three-year delay caused by the onset of the pandemic, when Art Inspirada finally opened, it was the realisation of a dream years in the making. “What was once just an idea now pulses, grows, and transforms every day,” she says.

Many of the artists represented at Art Inspirada are long-time collaborators and friends from their years in Brazil.

“Together, they accepted the challenge of building something new, of opening doors in a foreign territory,” Adriana reveals.

The gallery evolved organically, shaping its own identity over time. “Art Inspirada was born without a rigid format, however, over time it has moulded itself and gained an identity.

Today, it’s a living, vibrant space, full of colour and light,” she proudly sates, stressing that the gallery stands out “for its soul combined with the personality and unique essence that makes everything so special”.

Adriana has observed a growing interest among visitors in learning more about the artistic process.

Maramgoní, having previously run an art school in Brazil with over 600 students, is well-equipped to share his expertise. In response to this demand, the gallery will soon introduce a series of courses covering acrylic, oil, and watercolour painting.

Designed for both beginners and experienced artists, the classes will take place in the artist’s studio rather than a traditional classroom setting. “The idea is for them to experience art in a more immersive way, surrounded by works, engaging in dialogue with the exhibition space, feeling the atmosphere of a place where art lives and breathes daily,” Adriana explains.

In addition to these educational initiatives, Art Inspirada offers personalised consultancy services, reinforcing its commitment to making art a thoughtful and considered choice rather than a mere transaction.

“We believe that choosing a work of art is not a simple purchase, but an involved process, as it needs to make sense within the person’s space and life,” Adriana notes.

Clients can visit the gallery to select pieces and trial them in their own spaces, with no obligation to buy.

Alternatively, Adriana offers a personalised curation service, visiting clients’ homes to understand their environment and selecting works that complement their interiors.

For those with specific requirements, commissions can be arranged to ensure the perfect fit.

Though the Art Inspirada has already made an impression on the international stage through its participation in art fairs, the ambition is to expand further to reinforce the gallery’s role as a point of connection between artists, collectors, and art lovers. “Art Inspirada is about belonging, creating bonds, and celebrating art as part of life,” concluded Adriana.

The gallery’s latest exhibitions, events, and updates can be followed on social media and on its website, where you can also purchase art pieces with free shipping within Portugal.
