Town’s stairways and squares transform into open-air stages for music, theatre, dance and more
Ferragudo welcomes another edition of its summer Festival das Escadinhas (Staircase festival), taking place on June 21, Sunday, between 6pm and 11pm.
Dedicated to celebrating the town’s local identity and architectural heritage, the annual event marks the summer solstice and draws inspiration from an ancient tradition linked to the celebration of light and renewal, inviting residents and visitors to rediscover Ferragudo through art.
The village’s stairways, alleyways, squares and hidden corners will once again be transformed into stages for a range of cultural expressions, including music, theatre, dance, poetry, visual arts, gastronomy and cinema.
The artistic trail will begin next to the Ferragudo lifeguard station, continuing towards the church and ending at the Nossa Senhora da Conceição stop.
Along the route, the public will be able to enjoy a variety of performances, including film screenings, music, theatre, dance, folklore and contemporary fado, as well as a piano recital, short film screenings and, after sunset, a DJ set.
The event is a co-production by Bóia – Cultural Association and the Ferragudo Parish Council, and is supported by Lagoa Municipal Council.
