More rounds set for April and June, with $40,000 in total prize money
The fifth edition of the UTR Pro Tennis Tour wrapped up with Russia’s Pavel Lagutin and France’s Laia Petretic emerging as winners.
Taking place at the Carvoeiro Tennis & Padel Club, the competition brought together 40 professional players competing for a total prize fund of $40,000.
Lagutin, 21, claimed the men’s title without losing a single set across six matches, from the group stage with wins over Karol Malirz and Maximilian Borisov, followed by victories against Ilan Hediger and Portugal’s Miguel Semedo.
Tiago Cação was the standout Portuguese player, reaching the semi-finals.
In the women’s competition, Petretic also delivered a strong performance, securing six wins to take the title. Her group stage included victories over Kathleen Kanev, Matylda Burylo, Michelle Dzjachangirova and Vanja Gudelj. She went on to defeat Valentina Khrebtova in the semi-finals, before sealing the title with a win against Norway’s Astrid Wanja Brune Olsen in the final.
Organised by former Portuguese professional Frederico Gil, the tour is set to continue with more competitions already approaching quickly.
The next round takes place from April 27 with the UTR PTT Carvoeiro Men +H ($20,000) and Women ($20,000), followed by June 1–7, and June 8-14, both offering a total prize fund of $40,000.
