More than 1,200 boxers and 164 teams from 26 countries to compete this May
The International Portimão Box Cup 2026 is returning this May, with organisers promising the biggest edition yet. Taking place at Portimão Arena between May 29 and 31, the Olympic boxing tournament will bring together over 1,200 boxers and 164 teams from 26 countries.
Regarded as one of Europe’s largest boxing tournaments, this year’s edition has already broken records, with registrations closing a month earlier than planned due to overwhelming demand. The competition continues to grow internationally, attracting teams from across Europe and further strengthening the Algarve’s position on the international boxing scene.
More than 2,000 athletes, coaches, officials and support staff are expected to attend the three-day event, creating a lively atmosphere in Portimão throughout the weekend.
This year’s tournament will feature six rings, with daily weigh-ins from 7am, followed by matches starting from 11am. Categories will include both male and female divisions, spanning Children, School Age, Junior, Youth, Senior and Elite (15+).
Visitors can expect a packed schedule of matches and the chance to watch some of Europe’s top talent compete.
The event is organised by the Portimão Boxing School, which has become increasingly recognised for hosting large-scale sporting events in the Algarve.
