LAC hosts Colectivo RUA’s exhibition rooted in Porto’s graffiti culture and visual storytelling

Lagos’ LAC – Creative Activities Laboratory is currently hosting an exhibition featuring artists from the graffiti scene and visual arts.

The exhibition opened to the public on April 26 (Friday) and showcases artworks by current resident artists from Colectivo RUA, a collective founded in Porto in 2006. Comprising 11 artists with diverse backgrounds, they are united by a shared vision.

GRANITO - LAC - Laboratório Actividades Criativas

Colectivo RUA is known for its deep roots in graffiti culture and visual arts, and its work explores themes of individual and collective identity through the symbolic use of granite – a defining element of Porto’s landscape.

Seen throughout the city’s streets, walls, and homes, granite serves in the exhibition as a metaphor for strength, resilience, and collective memory, the artists explain. Featuring self-portraits and collaborative works, each artist contributes a unique visual language that celebrates diversity, friendship, and the power of collective creation – much like the stone blocks that build a city.

The group includes Contra, Draw, Fedor, Ivan, Mash, Mesk, Oker, Pedro Podre, The Caver, Third, and Virus.

RUA’s work primarily focuses on street art and muralism, whilst also expanding into gallery exhibitions and small-format pieces.

The exhibition runs until May 31 and is free to attend.
