The concert will pay tribute to one of the greatest voices in the world jazz
The Algarve Jazz Orchestra will open 2026 with a special concert in Lagos on January 28 at 7pm at the Lagos Cultural Centre Auditorium. The performance is dedicated to the iconic Ella Fitzgerald and also forms part of the celebrations marking the anniversary of the Elevation of Lagos to City status.
The performance will present the programme ‘Ella & More’, dedicated to Ella Fitzgerald, as part of the city’s anniversary celebrations.
The concert will pay tribute to one of the greatest voices in world jazz, whose career began in orchestras and was firmly established alongside Duke Ellington and Count Basie. Ella Fitzgerald won 13 Grammy Awards, sold more than 40 million albums and retains a legacy that is central to the history of jazz.
Singer Sara Miguel will once again join the Algarve Jazz Orchestra, a regular collaborator with the Algarvian ensemble. Sara develops original projects and maintains a strong connection to jazz roots, and currently resides on Pico Island in the Azores.
The concert marks the singer’s return to mainland Portugal, with interpretations presented exclusively to Algarvian audiences.
In 2025, the Algarve Jazz Orchestra saw sold-out venues and significant public recognition, particularly for its regular programming and artistic diversity.
Tickets are available on bol.pt and at the Lagos Cultural Centre.
