Another edition of the yearly Silves Orange Festival (Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja) will take place between February 16 and 18 at FISSUL (at Silves’ Municipal park near the riverside).

The yearly festival aims to highlight the citriculture that takes place in the municipality of Silves, its producers and the issues that are of interest to improving the sector.

Silves Orange Festival will welcome famous artists Gisela João on February 16, Carolina Deslandes on February 17, and Luís Simenta and humourist Serafim on February 18 to the main stage. Local artists will also perform before the main shows, on February 16, with Helena Silva and André Guerreiro, on February 18.

The 8th edition of the ‘Mostra Silves Capital da Laranja’ will start at 10am on February 16, with its official inauguration set for 10.30am.

The event will bring together dozens of exhibitors linked to citrus growing, wines, agriculture, regional products, handicrafts and gastronomy, as well as various regional organisations.

As part of this year’s novelty, the festival will hold the National Cocktail Competition “Classic & Flairbartending” National Final. This competition will determine the national champions who will represent Portugal at the 2024 World Cocktail Championships.

This year’s Orange Festival will also feature other highlights, such as show-cooking events, a Valentine’s march, the performance of various traditional music and dance groups and more.

As part of the event, the Orange Flavour Weekend will once again be held in the participating restaurants in Silves. Restaurants partaking in the event will feature a menu with the queen of the orchard: the Silves orange, which, due to its unique characteristics, will enhance the gastronomic offering, accompanied by a good Silves wine and delicious citrus desserts.

Valentine’s march

The Valentine’s march will let visitors choose from two routes tailored to different physical abilities.

The first is an urban route of 4.9 kilometres with a low degree of difficulty, and the second is an urban and mountain route of 11.4 kilometres with a medium difficulty degree. Both routes end near the FISSUL building.

A registration form is available online or participants can contact the Sports Department (located in the Silves Municipal Swimming Pool) by calling +351 282 440 270, or emailing [email protected].

Participants can also reserve their seats on the Municipality buses made available for the event. These can also be done on the day itself, at the venue, up to half an hour before the start of the activity.
