International recognition puts the Algarve marina in the spotlight
Portimão Marina has been named Best Marina in Southern Europe at the World Luxury Travel Awards 2025, held in Barcelona in late October, further reinforcing Portimão Marina’s role as one of the Algarve’s standout nautical destinations.
The title is based on public voting and the evaluation of an international panel, recognising excellence in service, attention to detail, infrastructure quality, style and design, customer feedback, marketing, diversity, location and overall reputation.
For João Machado da Silva, CEO of Portimão Marina, the award is a testament to the dedication of everyone who contributed to the project and to the growing appeal of the Algarve as a nautical destination. “We intend to invest increasingly in quality, innovation, sustainability and internationalisation, reinforcing our position as a benchmark in luxury nautical tourism and in the economic and tourist development of the region,” he adds.
“This distinction is a source of great pride for the entire Portimão Marina team and recognition of the daily work we do to ensure unique and memorable experiences for those who visit us,” said Ricardo José, operational director at Portimão Marina.
Set by the Arade estuary, Portimão Marina has space for 620 boats, including superyachts up to 50 metres, and operates year-round, welcoming boats from more than 20 countries. Alongside its boating services, the marina offers a maintenance yard, a 50-tonne travel lift and a 300-tonne travel lift.
Visitors can also enjoy a commercial area, a concessioned beach, an ocean pool and the four-star NH Hotel Marina Portimão. The marina also prioritises sustainability, with selective waste collection, wastewater treatment, solar-powered EV charging stations and environmental education initiatives.
