The project is part of the Council’s strategy to promote active lifestyles

Lagoa’s municipal council has launched an upgrade of the Quinta de S. Pedro sports ground in Mexilhoeira da Carregação.

The €135,000 project, which began this month, will see the old playing surface replaced with synthetic turf, alongside new basketball hoops, goalposts and nets. The works also include improvements to rainwater drainage, refurbished perimeter walls, and upgraded lighting, giving the venue a fresh new life.

The renovation is expected to take 120 days in total. Once complete, the multi-sports ground will be open for free, informal use by the public, with no booking required.

This is the fifth facility in Lagoa to benefit from improvements, following similar upgrades in Carvoeiro, Bela Vista, Lagoa, and Porches.

All works are part of the council’s Municipal Sports Development Strategy, under its “Sport for All” programme, which aims to promote active lifestyles and tackle sedentary habits across the community.
