Concert in honour of the iconic jazz musician Toots Thielemans with the Algarve Jazz Orchestra, Gonçalo Sousa and Luanda Cozetti this Saturday, February 19

– February 14, 2022

This February 19, enjoy the show “100’s Toots & Ellis” with the Algarve Jazz Orchestra, Gonçalo Sousa (harmonica) and Luanda Cozetti (singer).

The Algarve Jazz Orchestra (Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve) will perform this Saturday at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium at 7pm, accompanied by guests Gonçalo Sousa and Luanda Cozetti, in a show that pays homage to the iconic Belgian jazz harmonica player Toots Thielemans, who would celebrate his centenary this year.

The ‘60s were the prime years of the Bossa Nova genre, and many jazz musicians accompanied the trend. Toots Thielman was not far behind, having done one of his major collaborations with one of the biggest Bossa Nova singers of the time, Ellis Regina.

To recreate this incredible collaboration and many others, “100’s Toots & Ellis” will pay a tribute to the Bossa Nova era, with singer Luanda Cozetti giving voice to Brazil and other fusions. Songs like DesafinadoCorcovadoBluesetteStardust ou Chega de Saudade will be amongst the repertoire played on February 19.
